 Kathy
has been our lead dental assistant for over
twenty years (no, she didn’t start when
she was 10!) In many ways she is the driving
force behind the practice. She is well versed
in all areas of dentistry and is excellent
at making you feel at ease. Kathy was raised
in Webster, SD. She and her husband have a
teen-age daughter. |
 Sara
is one of our dental hygienists. She has been
a part of our dental team for 2 years now.
She is a graduate of the University of South
Dakota dental hygiene program where she received
an award for her clinical skills. She enjoys
golfing, boating, and spending time with her
friends and family. She was raised in a large
family in Kimball, SD. |
 Peggy
recently moved to Sioux Falls from Aberdeen,
SD, where she was an orthodontic assistant
for 25 years. She is married with two grown
children and enjoys camping reading and stamping
cards in her off time. |
 Heather
is a graduate from the University of South
Dakota where she earned her bachelor's degree
in Dental Hygiene. In her spare time she enjoys
road trips on the back of a Harley Davidson
and spending time with her family. |
 Kay
recently moved back to the Sioux Falls area
to be closer to their grandchildren after
spending almost 20 years basking in the warmth
of Arizona. She has over 30 years experience
in the dental and oral surgery field both
as an assistant and in office management.
In her free time she enjoys reading, golfing
and spending time with her family. |
 Haley
graduated from USD in 2000 with a BS in dental
hygiene and has been practicing dental hygiene
and dental assisting in Sioux Falls for 5
1/2 years. She grew up in Sioux Falls and
is married with one small furry child...Brody
their Italian Greyhound. In her free time
she enjoys making jewelry, camping, boating,
and jogging. |
 Lynne
is one of our dental hygienists and also happens
to be Dr. Pillar’s wife. She has been
in dentistry the longest of all of us, be
we aren’t allowed to say how long! She
is a USD dental hygiene graduate and has worked
in both general and specialty practices. She
also taught in the hygiene clinic at the University
of Nebraska. Her hygiene skills are second
to none and we are fortunate to have someone
with her experience. Tom and Lynne have two
grown daughters. In her spare time, she follows
Tom to dental meetings! She also likes fun
travel, not dental related and to read. |
 Stacy
graduated from South Dakota State University
in 2003 with a degree in Business Economics
and a minor in Accounting. She is our front
office administrative assistant. Stacy and
her husband have four furry friends at home
to love! She was raised near Lennox, SD and
enjoys traveling, shopping, reality TV and
cooking. |
 Dr.
Holly van Hofwegen is a 2004 graduate of the
University of Iowa College of Dentistry, and
just recently joined the Pillar Dental team.
For the past 3 years, she has been living
in North Carolina serving in the United States
Air Force. She was raised in Spencer, IA with
2 brothers, and is happy to be able to see
her family more often.
In her spare time, Holly enjoys coaching and
playing volleyball, biking, running, yoga
and traveling. Holly is a member of the Academy
of General Dentistry, the American Dental
Association and the South Dakota Dental Association.

 Dr.
Tom Pillar is a 1983 graduate of the University
of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry.
He is also a graduate of Creighton University
College of Pharmacy and practiced pharmacy
for several years before changing professions.
He was raised in Sioux Falls with 5 brothers
and sisters. Tom and Lynne have 2 daughters,
Ellen and Anne. Both girls are on their
own and visit home regularly, but they have
been replaced handsomely by two basset hounds,
Wilson and Watson.
For the past 20 years,
Tom has been following the path of the obsessed
dentist. He continually monitors emerging
technology in order to offer high tech dentistry
to his patients. As a continual student,
Dr. Pillar often receives ten times the
yearly continuing education requirements.
Dr. Pillar has enjoyed
many accomplishments in dentistry. He is
a Fellow of the International College of
Dentists, a member of the Pierre Fauchard
Academy, and American Academy of Dental
Practice Administration. He is also a member
of the Siouxland Dental Study Club, the
American Dental Association and the South
Dakota Dental Association.
